LBC Ladies Book Club
Once a month, the ladies of Lindale Baptist Church gather to discuss an assigned book to fellowship with one another. New books are usually announced every Book Club meeting. The ladies will typically read and discuss a book that's focus helps them grow in discipleship and fellowship. Some of the books they have read and discussed together this year have been: "Contagious Christian Living" by Joel Beeke, "The Holiness of God" by R.C. Sproul, "Six Days: The Age of the Earth and the Decline of the Church" by Ken Ham, and "Stepping Heavenward" by Elizabeth Prentiss. The next book club meeting will be August 20th in which they will discuss the first half of "What Every Christian Needs to Know About the Quran" by Dr. James White.
We believe that one of the church's main functions is to disciple men and women both. Titus 2:1-5 says, "But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine. 2 That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience. 3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; 4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed." We believe that the Ladies Book Club is one way in which women are discipled. We hope that, through this book club, many women will be instructed in sound doctrine, grow in discipleship and fellowship, and learn to live like the "Titus 2" woman.
