Sunday Worship

Because we are God's people, our number one job is to worship him. Creation glorifies the Creator. When we gather together for worship on Sunday morning, we want to give Him the glory that He deserves. How do we do that? God has given his people "means of grace," ordinary ways or channels in which He gives to us and we receive from Him. These include preaching, scripture reading, ordinances of communion and baptism, and prayer. Our order of worship is grounded in these means. In all of these things God's word is central.

Come and hear! Taste, and see that the Lord is good!

Preaching

The primary means of grace in our lives is God's word, the Bible. Therefore, preaching should be the giving of God's word to His people. God's people cannot survive on motivational speaking or story-telling. They are fed by "every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God" or His word (Matt. 4:4). Here at Lindale Baptist Church, whether we preach through books of the Bible or through a topical series through the Bible, we believe in approaching each text exegetically.

Singing

Ephesians 5:19 instructs us to sing "...psalms, hymns and spiritual songs." Colossians 3:16 says, "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly...teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs...." There is a teaching aspect to what we sing. What we sing in worship translates into how we live in relationship with Christ. What we sing ought to be full of great theological and foundational truths about God as well. You may not hear the song style you love, but you will be pointed to honor Christ and have your faith built in the process. To quote Matt Foreman, "...spiritual singing is not just about a melody we like. It's not about preferences or tastes. It's about letting the Word dwell in you richly" and glorifying Him in what we do.

Lord's Supper

Scripture tells us that the Lord's Supper was instituted by Jesus during the last supper with His disciples as a sign of the covenant; the new covenant in His blood. This means of grace points to the spiritual reality that, through Jesus, all believers are granted the promises of God through our faith in Jesus Christ. We typically do this on the first Sunday of every month. Our participation in the Lord's Supper is for believers and members of Lindale Baptist Church. Yet, visitors who are professing, baptized believers in good standing with their local church may partake with us.

Children in Worship

We welcome and encourage children to remain with us for the entire service. We encourage children being as close to the preaching of the word as possible. We have handouts that help little ones follow along in the service. We also have built a parent’s room at the rear of our sanctuary. This room is equipped with a speaker to hear the preaching and a large window looking into the sanctuary. This is a great place for parents to attend to their children’s needs while still participating in the worship service.

Fellowship Meal

On the first Sunday of the month we have a meal together immediately following worship in the Fellowship Hall. Everyone is invited! This is a great time to spend time together catching up or getting to know someone new.
